Peds cardiology fellow joins Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.

Dr. Onyekachukwu J. Osakwe, recently a pediatric cardiology fellow at the Heart Institute, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

Osakwe earned his medical degree at the College of Medicine, University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria, in 2006. After earning his medical degree, Osakwe earned a Master of Public Health degree at the College of Public Health and Health Professions, University of Florida, Gainesville, in 2010. He then completed his residency in general pediatrics at the University of Florida, and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Heart Institute, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association, Osakwe has received several awards for academic excellence, and recognitions for dedication to improving patient experience. His clinical focus is in general cardiology, preventive cardiology and cardiac imaging, and his research interests include improving parent education and experience with congenital heart defects using innovative digital congenital heart disease education tools. His research has been published in peer-review journals and he has presented at numerous scientific meetings.
